The mission of Loaves & Fishes Ministries is
to become aware of and meet family, personal, physical, emotional and
spiritual needs. Our Goal is to meet those needs through joint
efforts of Christian volunteers with referrals to other service
agencies, and to give help in such a way to encourage self-respect,
dignity, self-reliance, and a desire to help others.

Description
Loaves & Fishes is a
nonprofit emergency food
program which provides a
week's worth of
groceries to people in
crisis in Charlotte
Mecklenburg. Loaves &
Fishes began in 1975 by
a handful of people in
our community who
recognized the growing
hunger needs of people
in our area and opened a
single food pantry to
address those needs. In
1975, Loaves & Fishes
fed approximately 1,000
people. Over 29 years,
Loaves & Fishes has
grown to a network of 16
pantries and four
mini-pantries located
throughout Mecklenburg
County. Loaves & Fishes
served over 66,000
people in 2003. |
